Curved Chair, originally designed by German / Austrian designer Michael Nunt. In Iran, it was known as the Polish Chair, because it was first brought to Iran by Polish carpenters.
Polish chairs in this collection of paintings also symbolize the impartiality of the Iranian society in World War II, as well as the survival of Russian and British use of Iranian soil in sending supplies and equipment to the frontline of European forces. These chairs are presented in some form, as if they were looted and destroyed.
Other recognizable elements in this work are the familiar forms and compositions found in the works of European artists - known internationally. Including the painting by Edgar Dega's Little Dancer, David's painting by Michelangelo, Edward Munsh's scary painting, and ...
Sadiqi has put a symbolic character in his paintings, the soldier in these works, and thus reacted to each of the above characters by interfering with their pre-identified gesture.
